I know this is an old thread and posting here is a long shot but I am having the same problem. 2004 GSX-R600. I got it with a recent oil change and the proper K&N oil filter. The oil filter o-ring was popped out from between the filter and the engine and oil was pouring out with the bike running.If you get 45 mpg, that's an extra 5 gallons of gas every oil change (I go 5,000 mile intervals using synthetic, mfg recommends 3,500) so that's about a $10 savings every oil change, at current gas prices. A few months ago that was more like an extra $25, which pretty much offset the cost differential.The cartridge is bolted in from the bottom, so as soon as you remove that bolt all the fluid drains out the bottom.
