I started with G19 but now prefer an HK VP9 in every configuration. The VP9 has nicer ambidextrous features but really it’s mostly about what feels right to shoot. I agree that the Steyr is appealing but it’s not as easy to find parts and mags, so I’d stick with the HK, Glock, or Walther models you listed, pick one and go from there.

May 11, 2017 · I have several VP9s and several Glock 19s and I'm currently evaluating the CZ P10C. I find the ergos of the VP9 better for me. I find the pistols to be similarly accurate. The HK has more muzzle flip (higher bore axis) but it is less snappy and punishing to the hand (you can dissipate energy only so many ways). The Smith and Wesson M&P Shield is a handful. It has a fair amount of recoil and the same fairly small gun. Whereas the GLOCK 19 is a much larger gun and it can soak up that recoil a little more.
