Within two years I only had it serviced for normal wear and tear, oil changes, fuel filter, transmission fluid, etc. With only 93k miles on the Jetta, I had to replace the throttle body, water pump, wiper motor, thermostats, a/c compressor, fuel pump line, spark plugs, pcv valve, fans, etc. Within 1 1/2 years I spend 6+ grand on repairs.

Car Order Delay for VW Jetta. I ordered a new gas-powered Volkswagen Jetta at the end of August, 2022, through a large dealership in Toronto, Canada. Still haven't received it. Getting a feeling that the dealership/salesperson is doing something sketchy since their excuses are starting to pile up and contradict each other.Volkswagen is well known for having poor reliability and expensive maintenance. I would run far far away from a 8 year old used VW. You're much better off buying an used Corolla instead. If you do really like the Jetta though, which I understand, make sure you have it inspected by a mechanic before you buy it. -1.r/JettaGLI: A community for VW GLI owners and enthusiastsThe Jetta is more agile and nimble than the Passat. It will probably have a more "sporty" feel to it where as the Passat is more refined and has a softer suspension. I look at the Passat as the big mature brother to the Jetta. So it kind of comes down to what you're looking for. I have a 2016 Jetta SE and I think it's a great car! What's interesting is how much discrepancy there is. I think it highlights how weak the engine is without turbo spooling. Weird that they were able to make the Jetta feel more expensive than it is, yet made the Mk8 GTI feel cheaper than it is.... 0-60 in 7 despite a piddly 158hp is impressive, beating the Si.

22 VW Jetta vs 22 Toyota Corolla. I'm a first time buyer (19m) but I'm on the road a lot traveling to school and work. I like what I've seen from reviews about the 22 Jetta and the 6 speed manual looks fun. the Corolla seems like the buck standard person mover. plus it's a Toyota so it (hopefully) will last forever and be easy to maintain. The cost to repair an oil leak depends on how many hours of labor are required to access it and its complexity. The first Jetta (2007) - I picked for price. When I needed a newer car in 2020 - I once again found a Jetta (2017) in my price range. I was sold. I like their dependability. I'm between the Mazda 3 i Sport and a Jetta 1.8T SE. A price difference of ~$4000 seems to happen upfront, but frankly I'd rather just purchase the better car. I've driven both and enjoyed both, so now I'm just looking for a second opinion.I just had this issue with mine, same car. The problem is the VVT system. There’s a cam adjuster on the side of the head (on the timing cover, circular part with a 2 pin connector, 3 bolts) that gets gunked up and stops adjusting timing correctly and causes all the issues/codes you’re having.
